Greek art began in the Ancient Period, with the Cycladic and Minoan civilizations. There are three seperate time frames of art, Archaic, Hellenistic and Classical. The two mediums that thrived in these periods were sculpture and architecture. Here is an example of Ancient Greece pottery:
The next era of art was the Byzantine Period, were the Eastern Roman Empire influenced many of the pieces. The art style of the Byzantine Period was very similar to earlier time, but the main difference was the subject changed from humans and greek gods into purely Christian designs, such as portaits of Jesus Christ, as seen left.How do you think this art compares to the styles of other cultures?
